Hepatitis B Vaccine:

Hepatitis B is a serious viral infection of the liver caused by the Hepatitis B virus. The virus is usually transmitted through contact with contaminated blood or other bodily fluids either via sexual intercourse, needle stick injuries, drug users sharing needles, or perinatal transmission. Those travelling to endemic areas may also be at a high risk. Symptoms are extremely dangerous and may include jaundice and/or liver cirrhosis. In Saville pharmacy we provide a 3 dose schedule of the Engerix B vaccine (0, 1 and 6 months) at a cost of £20 per vaccine, (or an accelerated schedule if required).

Meningitis vaccine:

Meningococcal Meningitis is a severe bacterial infection caused by the Neisseria Meningitidis bacteria, with the highest risk being in sub-saharan Africa. Transmission is either via aerosol contact, or respiratory secretions of carriers. As transmission generally requires frequent or prolonged contact, those who remain in densely populated areas with high humidity are at increased risk. This can include university halls or dormitories. The kingdom of Saudi Arabia requires all pilgrims for Hajj or Umrah to have a valid Meningitis vaccine within the last 3 years before travelling. In Saville pharmacy we provide a single dose of the Menveo meningitis vaccine at a cost of £42 along with your vaccination certificate

COVID-19 vaccines are offered because viruses change and protection fades over time. It’s important to top up your protection.

If you're at increased risk of serious illness from COVID-19, getting a COVID-19 vaccine can:

  • help to reduce your risk of getting severe symptoms
  • help you to recover more quickly if you catch COVID-19
  • help to reduce your risk of having to go to hospital or dying from COVID-19
  • protect against different strains of COVID-19

COVID-19 vaccines in use in the UK have all met strict standards of safety, quality and effectiveness.

You cannot choose which COVID-19 vaccine you have.

Some people are only offered certain vaccines, for example, if you're under 18 years old. Children under 12 years old will be given smaller doses than older children and adults.

Vaccine types offered by the NHS this spring do not contain any animal products, including egg.

Those eligible for the covid-19 vaccine may change occasionally, please enquire within the pharmacy to check whether you're eligible. Recently those above 65 years of age were provided the vaccine, however during the spring booster it was those over 75 years. Those in care homes, Those with a weakened immune system are also eligible (immunosuppressed, those on long term steroids, those with chemotherapy, transplant patients.) Individuals with certain mental health conditions were also offered the covid-19 vaccine

At Saville pharmacy we operate both a walk-in clinic (just walk in once we advertise availability of the vaccine,) and also a booking service. If you are eligible for the vaccine you can just come into the pharmacy and we will check your eligibility and provide the vaccine, alternatively you can book a timeslot on the NHS website and come in at that allotted time.

The flu vaccine is recommended for people at higher risk of getting seriously ill from flu. It's offered on the NHS every year in autumn or early winter.

You can get the free NHS flu vaccine if you:

  • are aged 65 or over
  • have certain long-term health conditions
  • are pregnant
  • live in a care home
  • are the main carer for an older or disabled person, or receive a carer's allowance
  • live with someone who has a weakened immune system

Frontline health and social care workers can also get a flu vaccine through their employer.

The Flu vaccine does contain some egg extract, so do not have the flu vaccination if you are allergic to egg. The data collected by the WHO (world health organisation) determines which flu strains will be vaccinated against for the following year. Receiving the flu vaccination will provide numerous benefits including: Prevention from contracting the flu, reducing severity of symptoms, reducing the risk of flu-associated hospitalization and also protecting those who are vulnerable around you. In Saville Pharmacy we provide either NHS flu vaccinations, or private flu vaccinations (price for private flu jab determined closer to flu season). We operate both a walk in service or a booking service, enquire inside or via the phone to book your slot.
